insensitive

this is what i've been afraid of, seeing too much that i've gotten used to it.

Song of the Day: One More Murder (by Better Than Ezra)

One more murder in this town
Don't mean a thing, you get accustomed
To the sound
One more murder in this town
Just block off the street and wrap
the 'Crime Scene' tape around

grad season

Bill Gates' list of rules during a graduation

Rule 1: Life is not fair - get used to it!
Rule 2 : The world won't care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel good about yourself.
Rule 3 : You will NOT make $60,000 a year right out of high school. You won't be a vice-president with a car phone until you earn both.

Rule 4 : If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss.

Rule 5 : Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your Grandparents had a different word for burger flipping: they called it opportunity.

Rule 6: If you mess up, it's not your parents' fault, so don't whine about your mistakes, learn from them.

Rule 7 : Before you were born, your parents weren't as boring as they are now. They got that way from paying your bills, cleaning your clothes and listening to you talk about how cool you thought you were. So before you save the rain forest from the parasites of your parent's generation, try delousing the closet in your own room.

Rule 8 : Your school may have done away with winners and losers, but life HAS NOT. In some schools, they have abolished failing grades and they'll give you as MANY TIMES as you want to get the right answer. This doesn't bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life.

Rule 9 : Life is not divided into semesters. You don't get summers off and very few employers are interested in helping you FIND YOURSELF. Do that on your own time.

Rule 10 : Television is NOT real life. In real life people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs.

Rule 11: Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one

from a late night show

wouldn't i love to have a secret life?

Song of the Day: Diary (by Alicia Keys)
I won't tell your secrets
Your secrets are safe with me
I will keep your secrets
Just think of me as the pages in your diary.

exorcism, part deux

From Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior

Mick: "How do you deal with your ghosts, Coop?"
Coop: "I like to have them fly in formation."

Song of the Day: Candles (by Hey Monday)
Playback's such a waste
You're invisible to me
My wish is coming true
Erase the memory of your face...
Blow the candles out
Looks like a solo tonight
But I think I'll be alright

random sunday ramble

dinner at mom's place and ransacking her closet made me realize how fast i had to grow up.
i miss my old room
there are times when living alone is just that. living alone.

i'm a girl. i'm entitled to change my mind more than once.

Song of the Day: When I Grow Up (by Garbage)
Blood and blisters
On my fingers
Chaos rules when we're apart
Watch my temper
I go mental
I'll try to be gentle

100 Dollars

he gave me my first hundred dollar bill.
i barely remember it. i was just a baby.

he gave me constant laughter and taught me how to come up with quick comebacks.

he kept tabs on me while i was in law school.
he waited with me during the release of the bar exam results.
he joined my family in celebrating my success.
he kept pushing me to find a husband so he could be the ninong.
i'm sorry, tito rol. apparently, i kept you waiting too long.

my almost-ninong.
my neighbor.
my surrogate grandfather.
my counselor.
my ATM.
my friend.

we will all miss you.
life is quieter without you.
i hope you find peace.

Song of the Day: Landslide (by Smashing Pumpkins)
So take my love and take it down
Climb a mountain and turn around
And if you see my reflection in the snow-covered hills
Well the landslide will bring you down.

For Rogelio Sarmiento, Sr.
